Witney's 100% pure wool blankets

Witney Classic -Point- Blankets

These -point- blankets have been dyed in some of the old time popular darker colors. The cozy warmth of Witney -point- blankets depends on the way in which the wool fibers are teasted out of the fabric to form an extra deep, soft nap of wool and air.

Available in Garnet Red, Forest Green, and Royal Blue in 4, 5 and 6 -point- sizes. 100% pure new wool.

4 point, 72 inch x 90inch, specify color, Sold Out
5 point, 80inch x 95inch, specify color, Sold Out
6 point, 90inch x 100inch, specify color, Sold Out

Exactly when -point- blankets were first used for trade or barter is uncertain. An invoice listing merchandise for a trade company in Green Bay, dated 1725, lists "6 2 -point- blankets and 3 small capotes." An invoice of a company in Philadelphia, dated 1766, lists 4 -point-, 3 -point- and 2 ½ -point- watch coats. The -point- marks on a blanket indicated how many beaver pelts it took to purchase that blanket, i.e. four -points- equaled four beaver pelts. Today, it indicates the size of the blanket.
